Saphyr-Whorff evidenced in Arthur Eric Blair's Biography (George Orwell)

Saphyr-Whorff is a theory whose mechanism is the relation of 3 important parts in the creation of a work. Imagination is useful if we talk of works, but the 3 main step to analyze and determine the beginning of it is taking off the relation between the 3 factors: Literature, Culture and Language, just think about it; Literature can start a culture but culture can start literature, culture can start language or language- culture, the same with literature - language or language- literature, maybe you think that it's a weird thing, well, actually it is, why?, as you can see, book, tales or stories, novels, can involves society disagreement, cultural problems or advantages, initial point of a culture or the promotion of any language and many other things, but the main thing is to have the idea that in most of the works the saphyr-whorff theory is applied and that's just crazy.

In Arthur Eric Blair biography the cultural response to each experience is the beginning of his ideas, so, the point here is Blair leans more to culture-literature than  in the other ones, how can i make this affirmation?, let's take the quotes from the biography and make a short analysis. As we are talking of someone else's life the main thing is to know his early life in other words childhood and teenage life.

Young Orwell was brought to England by his mother and educated in Henley and Sussex at schools. wrote:-cliffsnotes

Here we can see how the cultural environment change fully his life, the cultural change make him change many aspect of his life, language, customs, dresses, food and other kind of things, in our life we  can  evidence this cultural response whe we need fit in or get used to it at the moment of traveling to other county.

The Orwell family was not wealthy, and, in reading Orwell's personal essays about his childhood, readers can easily see that his formative years were less than satisfying. wrote:-cliffsnotes

in this part we can see a social problem turn into literature which is based on culture taken from experience.

However, the young Orwell had a gift for writing, which he recognized at the age of just five or six. Orwell's first published work, the poem \"Awake Young Men of England," was printed in the Henley and South Oxfordshire Standard when he was eleven years old.Orwell attended Eton College. Because literature was not an accepted subject for boys at the time, Orwell studied the master writers and began to develop his own writing style wrote:-cliffsnotes

Basically language in that point of his life turn and changes his view of world having 5 or 6 years, that capacity is an amazing attribute that anyone randomly can has. He believe in whaat he was good for and start to take care of the seed so it can grow healty and strong.

. At Eton, he came into contact with liberalist and socialist ideals, and it was here that his initial political views were formed. wrote:-cliffsnotes

The contact with culture full his head and convert him in a potent or massive writer. Being steeped with culture at that age is the awakening of someone whose arguments can touch the sky.

His maturity process has ended, that process is truly important because in that point of life you can realize what path you  do you want to take. well, as i figured out in his biography Orwell created a strong relationship between culture and literature. Let's take a closer look to his professional and private life. In this moment is where culture gets an important attention so it can be turn into literature, that's why early it is released that kind of affirmation. Now I may prove on what my affirmation is based :

Orwell moved to Burma in 1922, where he served as an Assistant Superintendent of Police for five years before he resigned because of his growing dislike for British Imperialism. wrote:-cliffsnotes

Dislike of culture is also an important part of writting it is not just take into account the good things but also the bad ones, Orwell gains an experience which is attache to a cultural dislike from which he can make a literaric work.

In 1928, Orwell moved to Paris and began a series of low paying jobs. In 1929, he moved to London, again living in what he termed \"fairly severe poverty." These experiences provided the material for his first novel, Down and Out in Paris and London, which he placed with a publisher in 1933. wrote:-cliffsnotes

The experience can summarize events that may tell in few words how can something be. Here Culture construct a based which comes from experience, that means that most of the events inside that novel are based on thing that he experiences, things that comes form culture, so, the importance that gives orwell to culture is gradually seen in this novel at the time it is developed, because basicly he turns culture into literature using his own language.

He and Eileen were he married in 1936, shortly before he moved to Spain to write newspaper articles about the Spanish Civil War. wrote:-cliffsnotes

In Spain, Orwell found what he had been searching for — a true socialist state. wrote:-cliffsnotes

He joined the struggle against the Fascist party but had to flee when the group with which he was associated was falsely accused of secretly helping the Fascists. wrote:-cliffsnotes

Gain experience in the ambit of work is gaining more weapons to be cautious
of the path that we have to travel and gather necessary resources to go through it. Culture is in charge of showing us the difficulties of the path  so we can absorb any teaching. In this case Orwell absorb what he learn and put it in any context he wants to.

Orwell disliked this job immensely, being, as he was, in charge of disseminating propaganda to these British colonies — an act that went against both his nature and his political philosophy. wrote:-cliffsnotes

In 1943, Orwell took a job more to his liking, as the literary editor of The Tribune. wrote:-cliffsnotes

Orwell became a war correspondent for the Observer in Paris and Cologne, Germany. wrote:-cliffsnotes

Been against our own principles is difficult but the point of  is to learn of enemies or contrary section, which give him more arguments to be against it.

The following quotes are the ones that frankly or that goes directly to the point that supports the affirmation and in the ones i think the most.

Even his fiction has elements of the world around him, of the wars and struggles that he witnessed, of the terrible nature of politics, and the terrible toll that totalitarianism takes on the human spirit. wrote:-cliffsnotes

This quote gives us an based in which actually the culture gains the first place, cause it openly said "has elements of the world around him, of the wars and struggles that he witnessed, of the terrible nature of politics, and the terrible toll that totalitarianism takes on the human spirit." THIS IS THE CULTURE EVIDENCE inside his works, there you have the main points to tell that saphyr-whorff theory is really seen in Orwell work, Culture is turn into Literature throught the experiences he had in the past, all the previous quotes takes us to this big one, the jobs he dislike, school, travels and all that stuff full the glass, his knoledge is ample.

From the time he began to write at the age of twenty-four, Orwell longed to capture the struggles of \"real" people, to live among the less fortunate, and to tell their stories. wrote:-cliffsnotes

His eyes are mirrors that reflect the pain he saw, the voice of something that can be seen at simple view, the major success of people can be in the act of see then act. His words reveal the pain that someone can suffer at the moment that light turn into red, at the moment a flower become a gun, a lider a killer. Culture gave literature a real tool, it is like a ship in a river, the ship keeps traveling until it gets to it destiny just like Orwell that keeps traveling until his heart is at peace.

Of his own writing, Orwell has said that he writes because there is some kind of lie that he has to expose, some fact to which he wants to draw attention. wrote:-cliffsnotes

The revealer, his job is to tell everybody about the utopy that is going on, but there's no way he can get to it directly, here is where literature takes life, the language is a based to catch people or to let them go, Orwel catch the attention by using an exquisite for to express, he's Softness and hardness, take him to express the injustices involved in society from whom he is a victim, by whom he writes, to whom he wants to set free.

Orwell certainly does this in 1984, a novel fraught with political purpose, meaning, and warning. wrote:-cliffsnotes

The warning of a novel is a key for life, the entire world do not know that culture advices literature so this can teach society how they can advance not go backwards. In Orwell's work there is a big used or application of saphyr- whorff theory, Culture turn literature in life.

Regards. cheers  Like a Star @ heaven
